Kuzey Star Shipyard has signed an agreement with Ulusoy Shipping Company for the installation of EGCS/Scrubber and BWTS systems on four Ro-Ro Cargo ships, to be completed consecutively.
Turnkey Contract for EGCS/Scrubber and BWTS Projects
The EGCS / Exhaust Gas Cleaning System is a cleaning system that removes sulfur oxides from the exhaust gases of the ship's engine and boiler, with the purification device for this system also referred to as a Scrubber. The BWTS / Ballast Water Treatment System is designed to remove and eliminate biological organisms (zooplankton, algae, bacteria) from ballast water. Kuzey Star Shipyard expressed its pride and happiness in reaching an agreement with Ulusoy Shipping Company for the EGCS/Scrubber and BWTS system installation project for four Ro-Ro Cargo ships to be completed consecutively.
Under the project, the shipyard will undertake the design and installation of two “hybrid” and two “open loop” type Danish-made ME Production brand EGCS/Scrubbers, and four Wartsila brand BWTS, on a turnkey basis. Additionally, an agreement has been made to set up a “GRE Pipe Workshop” in the shipyard for special pipes to be used in the scrubber system, in collaboration with an experienced foreign company, including the supply of pipes.
With this scope, Kuzey Star Shipyard continues to be one of the leading shipyards in the region.
